Migrant Education Program - Region XVIII Services are still available for our PRJUSD Community

As a courtesy reminder to our community, the Migrant Education Program continues to serve our youth.  Although PRJUSD does not lead it directly, the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (SLOCOE) is present in our school district. We want to reassure our migrant families that support is here.

Our migratory youth face many challenges and rank among the state’s neediest students. These youth change schools throughout the year, often crossing school district and state lines, to follow work in agriculture, fishing, dairy, or the logging industry. Since 1966, federal and state laws in California have recognized the unique educational challenges migrant students face and have provided support for educational programs and services that are designed to help students and their families overcome the obstacles they face because of poverty and disrupted educational experiences. California's Migrant Education Program (MEP) is supported by federal and state laws. The MEP is authorized by Part C of Title I of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

The California State Services Delivery Plan supports the following goals areas:

  • English Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • English Language Development
  • High School Graduation and Dropout Rates
