Paso Robles High School Athletics Honors Coach, Volunteers and Community Supporters

During Tuesday evening’s Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting, Paso Robles High School Principal and Athletic Director Mike Susank proudly recognized several individuals whose dedication, leadership, and service have made a significant impact on Bearcat student-athletes and the athletic community.
Selected annually by the varsity head coaches from across the athletic department, the Coach of the Year award was presented to Codie Wilshusen for her exceptional dedication to student-athletes across three athletic seasons. Wilshusen serves as head coach for Sideline Cheer, Competitive Cheer, and Track & Field, demonstrating year-round dedication to developing athletes both on and off the field. Her leadership, positive influence, and commitment to excellence have helped shape the success and culture of multiple Bearcat programs. This is Wilshusen’s second year in a row to be nominated for Coach of the Year.
The Community Bearcat of the Year award was presented to Calvin Thompson, whose unwavering support of Paso Robles High School Athletics has touched countless student-athletes and families. Thompson serves as the head BBQ coordinator for the Bearcat Boosters at Friday night football games and numerous Bearcat BBQ fundraising events throughout the year. His volunteer efforts have helped strengthen the sense of community that surrounds Bearcat Athletics.
In addition to his service with the Boosters, Thompson currently serves as President of the Paso Robles Lions Club. Through a valued partnership with PRHS Athletics, the Lions Club recognizes one Bearcat athlete from every team each season with a Sportsmanship Award. Recipients are selected by their teammates and represent the qualities of outstanding sportsmanship, leadership, and being an exceptional teammate. This recognition has become a meaningful tradition that celebrates the character and values of Bearcat student-athletes.
Susank also presented the Bearcat Pride Awards, which are selected annually by Bearcat coaches and presented to community members who have made outstanding contributions to the Paso Robles High School Athletic Department. This year’s recipients were recognized for their generosity, service, and continued support of Bearcat Athletics.
