Data, Assessment, and Plan Alignment
At Paso Robles Joint Unified School District, the department of Data, Assessment, and Plan Alignment uses a robust collection of data assessments, strategic tools, and comprehensive planning models to champion student success. By synchronizing what we measure with how we plan, we ensure that every district resource directly supports meaningful student growth, academic mastery, and holistic development.
Our Assessments (The PRJUSD Assessment Roadmap)
We believe in administering only the most meaningful assessments, ensuring that all students take them in earnest to provide a clear, accurate map of their learning journey.
-
iReady Diagnostic (ELA and Math): An adaptive, three-times-yearly assessment given to students in grades K–10, Multilingual Learners through grade 12, and students in Alternative Education. It serves as both a criterion-referenced tool (measuring mastery of grade-level standards) and a norm-referenced tool (providing national percentile rankings). While the diagnostic itself is a formative tool and not graded, the results correlate with course grades to establish learning baselines, inform personalized instruction, guide small-group interventions, and provide vital evidence for parent conferences, SSTs, 504s, and IEPs.
-
Multitudes Reading Screener: Administered to meet the State of California requirement to screen all K–2 students for early literacy. This screener acts as an early indicator to signal potential areas of urgent focus.
-
Waypoints Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Survey: A three-times-yearly opportunity for students to reflect on their growth in six core social skills: Self-Awareness, Adaptability, Empathy, Collaboration, Agency, and Purpose. This tool provides foundational baseline data that helps inform personalized support services and SEL instruction.
-
GATE Testing (CogAT): Used every spring to determine student eligibility for Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) placement based on Intellectual Ability. First-grade students take an initial screener, and qualifying or referred students take the full CogAT in second grade to determine placement in elementary GATE clusters and advanced secondary coursework.
-
Seal of Biliteracy Pathways: A culminating three-step process honoring bilingualism and multilingualism. Students can earn the Promise of Biliteracy in elementary school, the Pathway to Biliteracy in middle school, and the official Seal of Biliteracy in 12th grade by demonstrating proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Our Data Tools & Analysis
Data is only as powerful as the tools used to understand it. PRJUSD pairs industry-leading software with local expertise to turn data points into actionable insights for our classrooms.
-
Aeries Student Information System (SIS): Our central hub for student data, managing attendance, grading, scheduling, and core student demographics to keep educators and families connected.
-
Parsec: A powerful data analytics platform that allows district leaders and principals to visualize complex trends, track student subgroups, and monitor equity indicators across campuses.
-
In-House Data Analysts: Our dedicated team of data experts who translate raw numbers into practical strategies, helping teachers and administrators track growth, target interventions, and measure the efficacy of district programs.
Our Strategic Plans
Data and assessments mean little without a roadmap for action. We align our findings with our district, state, and site-level plans to guarantee that our budget and resources match our students' greatest needs.
-
Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs): Our district-wide state accountability plan that outlines goals, actions, and expenditures to improve student outcomes across state priority areas.
